The Free Press is seeking a full-time, permanent Multimedia Journalist.
The Free Press is based in beautiful Fernie, BC and is a weekly community newspaper and online platform that covers the Elk Valley region of the East Kootenays.
The successful candidate will conduct interviews, cover events, take photos, videos, cover breaking news, as well as write proficiently to relay the stories in an interesting and informative fashion.
We’re looking for someone with an interest in local sports, arts, and entertainment, who can also write about community issues and local politics. Weekend and some evening reporting may be required.
The successful candidate should have:
- A journalism degree/diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong interviewing, writing, reporting, photography, and social media skills.
- Ability to work independently, but also work well with others as part of a team.
- A driver’s licence.
- Ability to learn applicable computer programs.
