We are looking for a highly skilled journalist passionate about Indigenous affairs and amplifying voices of Indigenous communities across the Northwest Territories.
The succesful applicant would be joining a team of editors and journalists as part of Black Press Media’s NNSL Media. This position is supported by the editor.
This position is part of the Local Journalism Initiative and is a one-year term.
The successful candidate will hold the following skills and competencies:
- An understanding of issues relevant to Indigenous communities in the NWT.
- Comprehensive knowledge of multimedia reporting, as well as different styles of storytelling including features and news briefs.
- A confident grasp of CP Style and writing for digital and print audiences.
- A passion for pitching new story ideas, as well as the time management skills to see complex stories through to publication.
